Creative Storytelling & Production

Welcome to The Living Realists Productions. Founded by Christian Smith, known artistically as The Poetic Realist, we are a multidimensional creative company dedicated to poetry, spoken-word performance, cinematic storytelling, memoir, podcast production, and authentic community outreach. We turn the raw realities of life, struggle, trauma, relationships, faith, and resilience into meaningful art that inspires connection and reflection.

From poetry to storytelling and digital media, I create solutions that are authentic, meaningful, and built to connect.
About Us

Born in Newark. Rooted in Truth. Living in Hope.

The Living Realists Productions was not built in a boardroom—it was forged through real-life experience. Growing up navigating an intensely difficult upbringing in Newark, New Jersey, our founder, Christian Smith, discovered that writing wasn't just a hobby; it was a lifeline. Through poetry and spoken word, artistic expression became a way to process pain, find his voice, and make sense of life. Today, The Living Realists Productions is a creative company spanning poetry, cinematic storytelling, memoir, podcasting, live productions, and community projects. We do not sugarcoat the human experience. Instead, we lean directly into the realities of trauma, relationships, faith, identity, loss, resilience, and survival—and transform them into meaningful art that reminds us that no matter where you start, you can survive, create, grow, and rebuild.

Uncompromised Authenticity in a Curated World

The Living Realist stands apart because we do not create art to escape reality—we create art to master it.

Rooted in Lived Experience

We aren't theorizing about hardship from an ivory tower. The Poetic Realist's lived experiences provide an authentic foundation of truth that builds meaningful connections with communities, listeners, and audiences who recognize and value honest storytelling.

High-Art Cross-Disciplinary Mastery

We reject creative limitations. By seamlessly blending poetry, spoken word, cinematic illustrated storytelling, podcasting, theater, live performance, and visual production, we create multi-sensory experiences that stay with an audience long after the performance ends or the episode concludes.

Creative Impact

When you engage with our productions or experience our media, you are supporting a creative mission rooted in real stories and meaningful connection. Our work brings together commercial creative projects, community storytelling, artistic productions, and outreach initiatives designed to inspire reflection, resilience, and positive change.
